Travel To Spain With Dior Cruise/Resort Show 2023

The creative director at Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri presented its latest resort/cruise collection 2023 in Seville, Spain. Specifically at Plaza de Espana, one of Spain’s most famous Renaissance squares. “Seville was a port where all cultures met. That’s the beauty of the place,” Chiuri said in an interview with Vogue magazine. “When people are becoming more nationalistic, we need to build bridges with fashion. And somehow, all of this is in the story of the craftsmanship.”

The Cruise collection 2023 portrayed Spanish traditions and culture. Its rich history and talent to a star-studded audience included names like Charithra Chandran, Mathilde Warnier, Celeste, Ivana Baquero, and Elle MacPherson who graced the spectacular show.

The show was inspired by the intense and revolutionary spirit of the famous Spanish flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya. “She was Carmen Amaya, who was the first female flamenco dancer to wear men’s clothes, in the 1950s. They called her La Capitana—a great name! She went to Paris and became very famous.” as stated by Chiuri.

It opened up with flamenco dancers and singers, which helped to set up the theme for the entire show. A total of 110 looks were presented in Dior’s Cruise collection 2023, but here are some of the standout looks that the show will be remembered for.

The black and white motifs have had a place in previous Dior shows if you can recall the Dior Cruise 2022 collection. We don't complain either!

Apart from Carmen Amaya, the Resort/Cruise collection 2023 was inspired by the Duchess of Alba. The aristocrat reportedly rode horses with Jackie Kennedy which was depicted in the show. Let's go sports! Let's go horseback riding!

The highlight of the show was the golden metal collar and detailed gold work on velvet fabric. The collar was certainly the show stopper!

The spirit and essence of the theme went together with flowy flamenco dresses in taffeta. The beaded neckpiece added to the overall look.

The closing dresses displayed words such as “fuego” and “alma,” which translates to fire and soul, respectively. It is synonymous with the theme and tone of the Dior's Resort/Cruise collection 2023.
